Our 2nd Tassie trip in 2017: South. Middle North.

After farewelling the ladies from the 2017 Tasmania East Coast trip on March 25th, it was time to welcome another group who’d flown over to Hobart to enjoy a cycle in the south, middle and north of Tasmania.

This second group, began their trip in pretty cool, very overcast , showery weather! Not exactly the best start to view Mt Wellington!

Fortunately our planning certainly caters for flexibility, so the first day saw us head immediately to Kettering to our accom to set up the bikes rather than in the the parklands with sunshine and a picnic lunch!

As always, as the saying says, when one door closes another opens and indeed it did. We had a fabulous trip with all 8 ladies, laughing and cycling the south, middle and north.

The next morning the sun shone to welcome us, as we enjoyed breakfast on the wharf at Kettering, then set off cycling along  the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. It was absolutely beautiful, pretty well devoid of traffic, despite the road being named Channel Highway! It had a few lumpy, bumpy elevated sections that the ladies went up and over, including one testing stretch before Cygnet.

Unlike most trips, we did have quite a time in the car between rides. The island of Tasmania is big on a bike! We rode each day, approximately 50km and stayed at a variety of accommodation, including Hotels, AirBnB, Stayz and a Boutique guest house. Each day was quite different and absolutely fantastic, with the riders enjoying the challenges the island offered in its terrain, as they were rewarded by many a good meal, great back up and and accommodation.
