How great to again be cycling in Tasmania!
We are just back from our 5th annual cycling trek to Tassie in 5 years, where once again we had 2 groups cycling. Both cycling, as well eating, laughing and shopping in beautiful Tasmania. :
- The first group cycled from the cute village in north east Tasmania, Pyengana, near the famous Derby mountain bike park, across to the east coast, spending the first 2 nights of the 7 night trip, in beautiful Binalong Bay. We enjoyed the challenging hills to The Garden and around Binalong Bay. From here, over the next 7 days, we cycled down the East Coast, via St. Helen’s , Scamander, Coles Bay, Hobart, to Adventure Bay on the south of Bruny Island. Thanks to the weather, the group of ace ladies and terrific scenery and cycling conditions, the trip was once again, very enjoyable and heaps of fun. We stayed in Freycinet, Kettering and Alonnah and cycled approximately 450km, before the ladies flew back to Melb from Hobart.
- The second group were collected with their bikes in boxes, from Hobart airport. After putting their bikes back together and a picnic lunch at Sandy Bay, we spent the first night on Bruny Island. This trip was also a ripper, with great ladies, pretty good weather, (shame we missed a 30km downhill from Cramps Bay, due to foggy = no visibility!) and a couple of bike issues. Fortunately we had the back up vehicle following closely behind as our safety barrier, so bike issues and trips to gather a new derailleur are possible! From Bruny island we cycled along the beautiful D’Entrecasteaux Channel to Cygnet, to Hobart, to Bothwell and onto Hadspen. Such fun, such great ladies…..we are a lucky bunch of women!
