‘SHE RIDES’ are again in Bayside for 2015.
Recently, Ladies Back On Your Bike conducted 8 cycling classes on consecutive Tuesdays. This was the She Rides, a first for Victoria.
It was a terrific bunch of Ladies, none of whom knew each other prior to signing up.
With some cycling hints, tips and experience over the 8 weeks these Ladies are now keen to ride on some more!
Some of them have now joined Ladies Back On Your Bike. Welcome girls!
In the coming Autumn beginning in March, Ladies Back On Your Bike, will again conduct She Rides. In fact 2 lots, one midweek the other on the weekends. See the calendar for details.
She Rides, is a national initiative developed by Cycling Australia and supported by Mountain Bike Australia, AustCycle, the Amy Gillett Foundation and our State/Territory Cycling Associations. It was established in 2014.
She Rides is a coordinated women’s riding program that targets women over the age of 30 (but women over 18 years of age can still register) who want to ride for health, transport, fitness and fun but lack the access, skills, confidence or support to make a change.
The aim of the program is to improve women’s skills, confidence, fitness and knowledge to enable them to ride socially, commute to work, and ride regularly (and longer!).
The idea is to help women to be fit and healthy, to ride their children to school or to participate in community rides/events. Programs will have a strong focus on riding skills, developing confidence, having fun and creating a social connection with other women.
